Nvidia (NVDA) has selected Micron (MU) as its first supplier of the next-generation memory solution known as SOCAMM, The Korea Economic Daily’s Eui-Myung Park reports. According to people familiar with the matter, Nvidia commissioned all three major memory makers — Micron, Samsung (SSNLF), and SK Hynix (HXSCL) — to develop SOCAMM prototypes, while Micron was the first to receive Nvidia’s approval for mass production. Samsung and SK Hynix have developed SOCAMM chips but have yet to obtain Nvidia’s certification, sources say.
